Definition of organically-grown
The term “organic
” refers to the process of how certain food have been grown or farmed without the use of artificial chemicals, hormones, antibiotics or genetically modified organisms (GMO).
According to the USDA, and I quote; “These methods integrate cultural, biological, and mechanical practices that foster cycling of resources, promote ecological balance, and conserve biodiversity. Synthetic fertilizers, sewage sludge, irradiation, and genetic engineering may not be used.”
USDA – What is Organic?
Organic farming vs conventional farming
The main difference between organic farming and conventional farming, is the complete lack of surveillance and regulations in the products used on the crops.
The precedent USDA quote literally means that all conventional farmers can, at any quantity and at any moment they see fit; use synthetic fertilizers, municipal sewage sludge, toxic pesticides and herbicides, as well as GMO. As an example, this means that any non-organic hemp farmer struggling with grass-hopers, can use strong chemical pesticides at the end of the plant’s growth stage. Which means that a very heavy pesticides residue will linger on the plant, be collected while harvesting and will be sold to the customers.
On the other hand, organic farming is extremely restricted and national standards are sets by the National Organic Program
; housed within the USDA Agriculture Marketing Service.
We are proud members of the Vermont Organic Farmers Association
and all our beautiful Certified Organic CBD flowers have received the VOFA certification. Which means that all products used to grow our CBD plants have been meticulously chosen and approved by the National Organic Program
But we wanted to go further and, to avoid any residues on our plants, we decided to use absolutely NO pesticides and NO herbicides (organic and non-organic) on our crops.
We use the help of ladybugs to prevent spider mite invasion and our hands; to clear the weeds in our fields.
Our Certified Organic Buds are grown with all the goodness the Vermont’s sun has to offer and with a whole lot of manual labor !
Benefits for the environment
practices are designed to benefit the environment by reducing pollution, conserving water, reducing soil erosion, increasing soil fertility and using less energy than traditional farming. The lack of chemical pesticides is also beneficial to nearby birds and animals, as well as for people who live close to farms. It’s important to remember that what is bad for our water is also bad for us, who drink the water or use it on our crops. Organic farming aims to protect human health, preserve biodiversity and protect the environment for current and future generations.
Benefits for your health
All health claims are prohibited by laws, but we truly believe that the food we put in our bodies should not be full of chemical pesticides, toxic herbicides and/or fungicides. If you ever drove by a “dead” field; where nothing grows and no animals dares to venture, you can imagine the devastating effects of repeated exposure to chemicals on your body. And it is far from pretty.
Consuming organically-grown produces decrease our exposure to potentially carcinogenic and harmful chemicals. Therefore, decreasing all health risks related to those chemicals; like an adverse reaction to chemical allergens and toxins ingestion. To conclude, we may also add that organically-farmed products taste so good! Since its not genetically modified or covered its pesticides, our Certified Organic CBD Buds have a richest flavor and a much better overall taste than any other conventionally-farmed CBD flowers !
